In British Columbia, medical physicians regularly refer their patients to a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) - and they make these referrals because massage therapy is both accessible and effective in the treatment of their patients' conditions. Today, RMTs use a blend of modern science and ancient philosophies, utilizing specific techniques and modalities.

Over the past decade, there has been a significant rise in the demand for massage therapy in BC. This can be attributed to higher educational standards, research studies showing the efficacy of massage therapy, and an overall increase in public demand for non-surgical and drug-free treatment options.

RMTs work with illness, injury and disability in diverse and broad patient populations. They are primary health care professionals that focus on disorders of the musculoskeletal and related systems.

Treatment and management of many health conditions by massage therapists is supported by research.

Sydney is a graduate from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT) in 2013. Since then Sydney has learned she like to focus on the whole body in practice. She maintains a full and fulfilling practice in Maple Ridge, BC.

Sydney loves to treat every body- as we are all so unique. She finds that by looking at the whole person, and whole body, her patients have fantastic results. A part that is so often missed is the mental aspect that may be triggering a lot of chronic pain and dysfunction. When she is able to find the true root of the issue, whether it is additional life stress, or a functional movement pattern dysfunction, she finds that she assesses on each treatment what and how the tissue is at that time. She meets you where you and your body is at, and works forward from there for your health journey. With every massage, she finds that tissue pressure will change due to what is going on in everyone’s lives at the time. Ultimately, her goal is to get and keep people functioning at their best level. Sydney understands that everyone is multifactorial and we all do not fit into the same box.

Patients often describe Sydney as intuitive, and will state that “her hands just went to a spot immediately that I didn’t know was the problem”. Others have said that “she sees me as an entire person and looks at everything that I love and makes each treatment effective for my needs at the time”.

Outside of work, Sydney loves being in nature, hiking and walking with her dog, Khloe, as well as yoga practice and dancing.

On top of working as an RMT, she has completed her yoga teacher training, and has completed further studies in functional movements courses.
